by Bill Smith (Author), Derri Smith (Author)

Advanced Conversation with Character from Sweet Home Press is a self-guided language arts curriculum for teens to young adults. Twenty-one fun yet challenging lessons build confidence in social settings, teach how to bring out the best in others, transform acquaintances into friends, train how to calmly handle criticism and open doors to the future. Drawing from biblical values that build character, this book is written from a Christian perspective and includes scripture and concepts from both the Old and New Testaments. Thousands of homeschool parents have been delighted to use the basic Conversation with Character to train children in language arts, speech, communication and good manners, and to instill in children the qualities of good character that build a successful foundation for life. But the basic book is not a prerequisite for this advanced version.

Author Biography

Derri and Bill Smith wrote The Character Series, including advanced and basic versions of Conversation with Character, while homeschooling two daughters. Derri's career before children was teaching elementary school. She then mentored inner-city children in habits of good character and godly living. Bill Smith began his career as a journalist and then frequently wrote for the varied purposes of business, government, industry and nonprofit. The Smiths spent six years in Europe and the UK, aiding refugees and helping in the post-communist recovery of Eastern Europe. Today, Derri is founder and Executive Director of End Slavery Tennessee, creating a slave-free Tennessee and holistically restoring survivors of human trafficking. Bill writes grant proposals full-time for his local food bank and is a senior editor for a publisher.
