Author Biography

Alex Kosseff, original author of the guide, is the director of the Outdoor Safety Institute in Bozeman, MT. Sally Manikian, editor of this edition, is a Backcountry Resource Conservation Manager, a certified B Level Sawyer, as well as a musher and sled dog trainer. She can be found in boardrooms and council chambers or deep in the rugged mountains and wooded forests of northern New England, and usually along the many trails with her dog team. She lives in Shelburne, NH.
