Solany's poetry shines light on her healing journey and the resilience that has come from losing her father, who lives on through her and the pages of her book.
Born and raised in Los Angeles, California, Solany Lara is a Chicana who is the product of her immigrant parents' hard work and tenacity. Working as an academic interventionist, she assists K-8 students with their literacy development. She loves sharing her love of reading with everyone she encounters, as she believes that reading can have a profound effect on people's lives. This has led her to pursue a Master's degree in Library Science at San Jose State University. When Solany is not studying or writing, you can find her dancing and spending time with her big Mexican familia.
