She also hosts reading events for children and families at schools, libraries, and other group settings. Prior to creating this award-winning series, she worked in public health and humanitarian endeavors-- running nonprofit organizations in the US and Africa. She holds a master's degree in Public Health from Harvard; an MPA from NYU; and attended Emory and the London School of Economics studying political science and medical anthropology, respectively.
