During this time, the sun shines all through the night. People call it the midnight sun. When the midnight sun is shining, people and animals stay active even at night. DEB VANASSE and her husband live in a log cabin they build in Fairbanks, Alaska. A former high school teacher, she is the author of several children's books and young adult novels including Totem Tale, Out of the Wilderness, and A Distant Enemy.
JEREMIAH TRAMMELL began drawing before he entered kindergarten in the rural Alaskan town of Willow.
