by Sharon Wilmoth Harsh (Author)

This work offers a reasonable outline of the William Willett family from its earliest traditional ancestry to the time of publication. Census records, Bible records, marriage records, birth and death records, newspaper articles, obituaries, manuscripts and biographies have been researched, abstracted and compiled. Information has also been gleaned from family history and oral history sources. Original spelling has been maintained and nicknames have been included. Genealogical records are grouped by family heading, with a narrative section and a list of children following each heading. Entries include birth date, place of birth, names of parents, place of residence, date of marriage, name of spouse, date of death, place of death, and miscellaneous biographical information as available. Short transcripts of census records, and brief extracts from obituaries and other documents are frequently included. The author has devoted a section to the military careers of Mrs. Hannah Willett's four sons: Floyd Abram, A. Milan, James W., and Gordon Arthur during the Civil War. Chapters include: Abraham Willett (c1735-c1805) of Onondaga County, New York; William Willett (1769-1844) of Onondaga County, New York; Permelia Willett (1793-1854) of Onondaga County, New York; Abraham Willett (1793-1859) of Onondaga County, New York; Hannah Willett (1805-1874) of Onondaga County, New York; Interlude: The Civil War, from Soldier to Sutler; Alfred Milan Willett (1829-1906) of Ionia County, Michigan; Floyd Abram Willett (1833-1868) of Steuben County, New York; Gordon Arthur Abram Willett (1835-1898) of Ionia County, Michigan; Abigail Jane Willett (1837-1864) of Kalamazoo County, Michigan; James W. Willett (1839-1906) of Montcalm County, Michigan; Anna Willett (1813-1874) of Ionia County, Michigan; William Willett (1809-1853) of Onondaga County, New York; Consider H. Willett (1840-1912) of Chicago, Illinois; and, The Consider H. Willett Furniture Company. A bibliography and a full-name index complete this work.
